An engine's efficiency is directly dependent on the quantity of air entering its cylinders. The less the air is obstructed, the greater the engine efficiency. The standard air box and filter are obstacles to air. Replacing them with a direct intake kit significantly improves the air flow by reducing pressure drop.
The direct intake kit means the standard air box can be removed. In addition, it usually reduces the distance between the air intake and the engine. There is thus a significant gain in power at low engine speeds and improved torque and throttle response. It is recommended to isolate the intake kit in the engine bay to prevent hot air being drawn in.
